The Promised Land of Mukilteo
Northern Star pitches sold Mukilteo homesteads, marshland and industry in 1878.
3 reports in The Northern Star, September 1 – October 19, 1878.

The story
Between Sept. 1 and Oct. 19, 1878, The Northern Star of Snohomish City carried three promotional pieces about settlement and development around Mukilteo and the Snohomish County shoreline. The pieces promised valuable homesteads, marshland ranches, and a future of agriculture, ship-building, and commerce. The reports are promotional and do not establish that the promised development occurred; one describes a “colony” on the river rather than Mukilteo specifically.
Told from the 3 reports below. The reports are the record.
