Northern Pacific to Expand South Tacoma Boiler Works

A massive $75,000 construction project begins this week, signaling industrial growth for South Tacoma.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Work was commenced today by St. Paul contractors on the Northern Pacific Railway company's new boiler shop, which is to be erected at South Tacoma. The new structure will be located between the company's present boiler house and the paint shop. Its dimensions will be 116x300 feet, and it is to be connected with the old shop by a transfer pit 40x400 feet. Decks of St. Paul have the contract for the erection of the building and the estimated cost is $75,000.
