Sunday Scuffles and Saloon Culture

Three men arrested for fighting in separate incidents as heat and drink fuel local tensions.

Warm weather and too much beer yesterday sent several Tacoma citizens on the warpath, and as a result Joe Murphy, William Baldwin and John Johnson are detained in the city jail today, charged with fighting. All three were engaged in separate and distinct affairs. Murphy was arrested by Officer McCormick, Johnson was picked up by Amidon, and Mondeau landed Baldwin, taking along with him a woman, who gave her name as Maggie Smith, to act as a witness.
