A Total Rout on the Fort Walla Walla Grounds

The La Salle Institute baseball team dominated the 'Last Chance' squad in a lopsided game that left local fans stunned.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

The ball game last Sunday between the Last Chance nine and the La Salle Institute on the Fort Walla Walla grounds proved a regular slaughter of the former team. The Institute boys won in a walk and touched the pitcher for 24 hits, the whole netting 21 runs. The Last Chance aggregation came in at the finish with but one run to their credit. It was not a game one would care to see repeated, for the opposing nine was clearly outclassed by the schoolboys. The pitching of Parks of the Institute was too much of a mystery, and the little twirler had 17 strikeouts to his credit.
