Amateur Theater Success

Aberdeen locals stage a comedy-drama at the Acme Opera House to raise money for a new church building.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Last Saturday, at the Acme Opera House, about two hundred of the theatre-loving populace of Aberdeen listened to the best amateur performance ever given in the city. The play was the two-act comedy-drama 'Meg's Diversion,' and was performed by a cast including Alfred E. Green, Ernest Everett, Charles H. Green, W. Waldo Hart, Fred A. Hart, Miss Clara L. Wood, Miss A. M. Pierson, and Miss Gertrude T. Green. The play was well rendered and kept the audience in an excellent humor throughout. A fine orchestra, consisting of Mrs. J. S. Gunn and Messrs. Smith, Wormald, and Kroeneut, provided music. The performance was given for the benefit of the building fund of the Episcopal church, which is soon to be built in this city. The amount realized was $43.25. The company intends to produce the same play at Montesano on Saturday, December 3.

“The play was well rendered, and kept the audience in an excellent humor throughout.”
