Island View Ranch Barn Destroyed by Fire

A workshop and barn burned to the ground while the owners were away fishing.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

While Ted Bliss and James Eamon, who had been spending his two-week vacation with Ted at Island View ranch, were at the Yakima River fishing on Thursday afternoon, in some unaccountable manner the workshop, barn, and hay on the ranch took fire and were entirely consumed. A motorcycle and a lot of tools were burned, but neighbors arrived in time to get the horse out of the barn.

Fire remains a constant threat in the arid landscape of the Tri-Cities, though modern firefighting infrastructure and early warning systems have significantly changed the response compared to the 1915 era, where rural neighbors had to rally manually to save livestock.
