State Attorney Resigns to Help Secure Army Post

Assistant Attorney General Scott Z. Henderson leaves his post to assist in the land acquisition for a massive new U.S. army base in Pierce County.

It was learned from authoritative sources that the resignation of Scott Z. Henderson, of Kennewick, as assistant attorney general will be announced tomorrow. Henderson will take up private law practice in Tacoma with J. T. S. Lyle, former assistant attorney general. Henderson will be associated with Lyle in the work of securing by condemnation property for a United States army post to be located in Pierce County, for which Pierce County 10 days ago voted $2,000,000 in bonds.

“Henderson will be associated with Lyle in the work of securing by condemnation property for a United States army post.”

Henderson's move highlights the historic intersection of private legal practice and massive federal infrastructure spending, a recurring theme in the growth of Washington's military landscape. Today, the expansion of Joint Base Lewis-McChord remains a central pillar of the region's economy and its legal and environmental complexities.
