Benton County School Exhibits Sweep the State
The seventh annual school fair highlights the educational rigor of Kennewick's students after their county-wide success at the State Fair in North Yakima.
Visitors at the Seventh Annual School fair last week could easily understand why the schools of Benton county were awarded first prize in the state-wide contest at the State Fair in North Yakima. The exhibits shown in the Commercial club rooms and the Eakin building represented many hours of painstaking work by pupils in every grade. They reflected not only the aptness of the pupil but the thoroughness of the methods of instruction, and there was something commendable in every article exhibited, whether it was the first little folded paper piece of the tiny primer tot or the finished sample of workmanship of the high school senior. New interest was given the fair this year by arranging the exhibits by classes in such a manner that upon entering the room the visitor began with the work of the little six-year-olds and went on up through the grades.
“There was something commendable in every article exhibited, whether it was the first little folded paper piece of the tiny primer tot or the finished sample of workmanship of the high school senior.”
Today, Kennewick's focus remains on academic achievement, though the exhibition space has moved from the historic Eakin building to digital and modern classroom showcases. The pride taken in local educational excellence is a century-long constant in the Tri-Cities.
