A New Community Stage for White Bluffs
Construction begins on a long-awaited public assembly hall, filling a cultural void for local residents.
The story, cleaned up
A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.
Andrew Codding has let the contract for the building of his hall in the new town to Schwartze and Coleman. The lumber has been ordered and as soon as it arrives, actual construction will begin. The building will be 30x60 with an ornamental front and a portable stage. It will be located on the street between the Shepherd livery barn and the Chambers building. The hall will be much appreciated by the public, as this end of the valley has been without one for some time.

In 1916, civic infrastructure like a dance hall was essential to stitch together a growing community. Today, White Bluffs is a ghost town largely subsumed by the Hanford Site, with almost none of these original structures remaining to mark where the community once gathered.
