Aid will be asked from the state for the improvement of the Puyallup and Duwamish rivers for the alleviation of flood troubles and for the extension of navigation up both streams. A delegation of Seattle men representing commercial and business organizations met Saturday with local committees of the Tacoma Chamber of Commerce and Commercial Club, along with several members of the legislature, to discuss these problems. It was decided to ask for state aid preparatory to getting an appropriation from Congress. The matter will be taken up by a committee of ten, five from Seattle and five from Tacoma.

The perennial struggle to balance river navigation, commerce, and flood prevention—particularly along the Puyallup River—remains a major infrastructural challenge for the Port of Tacoma and surrounding municipalities.
