McMillan on the Brink of Washing Away

A farmer appeals to commissioners as a diverted river threatens to swallow his town.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

McMillan is threatened with destruction, according to the report of Harry Baugh, who appeared before the commissioners and asked for protection. Baugh, a farmer, stated that ten acres further up the river had been diverted in its course and that now it is eating away the bank and threatening the whole town of McMillan. The commissioners will look into the matter and may put in some wing dams to protect the place.

“It is eating away the bank and threatening the whole town of McMillan.”
