Persian Rug Store Ravaged by Early Morning Blaze

A mysterious fire in the Tacoma Theater building destroyed the inventory of a local Oriental goods merchant.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Damage to the amount of $5,000 was done to the contents of Max Weiss' Persian store, in the Tacoma Theater building, by fire which broke out about 1 o'clock this morning. The entire stock of Persian rugs and Oriental goods was ruined, although the room in which the stock was kept was not greatly damaged. The fire started mysteriously in the rear of the store and was noticed by Allan Holluber, of the McRae Stock Company, and Patrolman Andrews. Alarms were turned in, and the fire department soon had the blaze under control.

“The fire started mysteriously in the rear of the store.”
