The Hanford Columbian Folds

After five years of publication, the Hanford Columbian suspends operations, marking a shift in the local media landscape.

The Hanford Columbian is no more. Lack of sufficient business to justify its continuance is the reason given for its suspension in the final issue last week. The Columbian was established about 5 years ago, by Perry Willoughby, who has remained in active charge ever since. For a time it thrived and prospered but the last couple of years have been pretty lean. In fact, neither White Bluffs nor Hanford is large enough yet to support its own newspaper. Mr. Willoughby has purchased the Richland Advocate and will move to his new location in the near future.

“In fact, neither White Bluffs nor Hanford is large enough yet to support its own newspaper.”
