New Pavement Plans Connect Kennewick and Finley

Benton County commissioners resolve to build a 20-foot wide state highway to streamline travel between the two communities.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

At their regular meeting last week, the county commissioners by resolution, gave notice of their intention of building a state highway from Kennewick to Finley. The road is to be built 20 feet wide and according to the specifications as provided by the state law. County Commissioner J. B. Clements and County Engineer C. D. Walter have made several preliminary trips over the road and last week a representative of the state highway department was here for the purpose of inspecting the gravel pit from which it is proposed to secure material for the improvement. Now that the improvement has received the official sanction of the board it is expected that the work can be started early this fall.
