Murder Conviction in Pasco

Jacob Sentel found guilty of first-degree murder for the killing of Ada Wilson Mountain.

Jacob Sentel, accused of killing Ada Wilson Mountain, a woman of the underworld, in a tent near the Northern Pacific depot in Pasco on June 19th, was convicted of murder in the first degree in the superior court of Franklin County last Friday. The testimony provided little that was not already covered by the coroner’s jury. Sentel testified in his own defense but was described as a poor witness. It is expected that the case will be appealed to the state supreme court.

“Jacob Sentel... was convicted of murder in the first degree in the superior court of Franklin county.”

Reporting on 'women of the underworld' in 1914 often dehumanized the victim. This case remains a grim artifact of Pasco's early 20th-century history near the rail lines.
