Fatal Shooting at Coulee City Restaurant

A gambler’s reckless gunfire leaves a local pioneer dead and another man wounded.

On Monday night, at Coulee City, a man named John Corley began shooting inside a restaurant. When the proprietor ejected him, Corley fired into the building from the street. By Tuesday morning, it was discovered that Charles Pascoe, a pioneer of the town, had been killed by a bullet through the breast. Another man, known as Patsy, was wounded in the arm. Corley, a gambler of bad reputation, has been arrested for the act.

“Early Tuesday morning, the result of this fusillade was found to be the killing of Charles Pascoe, one of the pioneers of the town.”
