Tacoma’s Mercy for Fraviola

Citizens rally to fund the final journey home for a sick child.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Little Fraviola was started on the journey to her home in San Francisco yesterday to die. She was accompanied by her mother and Nurse Jean Cameron of the Fannie Paddock hospital. Mrs. Allsop expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Tacoma people for their sympathy and help. After all the expenses of transportation had been paid, she had left about $362, the gift of Tacoma citizens. George Blount, one of the Mardi Gras performers, also accompanied Mrs. Allsop and her daughter to their home. He collected the first $25 for the girl, and since has been working on the Edison circuit.

“Mrs. Allsop expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Tacoma people for their sympathy and help.”
