Sheriff Challenges Corruption in Seattle

King County Sheriff Cudihee declares a crackdown on 'wide open' gambling, asserting his authority over the prosecuting attorney.

Seattle, Oct. 16. — Wide open gambling, which has been going on under the alleged protection of Prosecuting Attorney Scott, will stop tonight. Sheriff Cudihee served notice today on all gamblers that they must stop or be arrested, their paraphernalia confiscated and themselves prosecuted under the new felony law. The sheriff adds in his edict that if Scott refuses to prosecute the gamblers he will compel him to do so.
