Fugitive Couple Caught in Seattle After Six-Month Chase

A waiter and a logger's wife have been apprehended in Seattle following a dramatic months-long pursuit.

After eluding an irate husband for six months, D. Montgomery, a waiter, and Mrs. J. Adams, who eloped from Vancouver, Wash., have been placed under arrest here in Seattle. Adams, who is a logger, followed the couple to Portland and thence to Seattle, but did not lay eyes on the pair until this morning.

“After eluding an irate husband for six months, D. Montgomery... and Mrs. J. Adams... have been placed under arrest.”

While 'elopement' and 'adultery' laws have evolved, the drama of a jilted partner tracking a couple across state lines remains a classic, albeit complicated, human-interest narrative.
