The Struggle to Build the Wishkah River Road

Local residents rally to fund a critical infrastructure link, exposing a backlog of unspent government appropriations.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

E. L. Koehler reports that the committee who have charge of the Wishkah river road matter have secured subscriptions amounting to about $450. Commissioner Wilson was in town one day this week and expressed himself favorable to granting an appropriation from the road and bridge fund to add to this and complete the work. This district is entitled to $2000 of a former appropriation which has never been drawn, and the citizens should not rest until they get it.
