City Bids Farewell to Fireman Killed in Line of Duty

Police and fire departments honor Dan Noonan, who died after a collision between a hose wagon and a streetcar in South Tacoma.

The last earthly rites over the body of Dan Noonan, the fireman killed Friday night when the hose wagon on which he was riding collided with a Spanaway car, were performed this morning at the church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at South Tacoma. Father Mark Weichmann was celebrant. The city police and fire departments joined in doing honor to their dead comrade and fellow worker. A hose wagon drawn by the horses of the ill-fated wagon, demolished in the collision, and driven by James R. King, led the procession. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.

“The city police and fire departments joined in doing honor to their dead comrade and fellow worker.”
