The Long Life of Nancy Ann Colvin

At 101 years old, Nancy Ann Colvin lives with her son near Kent, Washington, after a lifetime that began in Ireland in 1802.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Nancy Ann Colvin, of Kent, was 101 years old Tuesday, yet her general health and eyesight are good, and her hearing only partially affected. Mrs. Colvin was born in County Down, Ireland, November 10, 1802. In 1848 she sailed for America with her husband, James Colvin, and two children. She attributes her long life largely to her cheerful disposition. She now resides with her son, James Colvin, a well-known rancher near Kent.

“She is of a cheerful disposition and attributes her long life largely to that fact.”
