Local Bowlers Prepare for Rival Match

The Walla Walla Athletic club squares off against visiting competitors from Pendleton in a high-stakes local ten-pin contest.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

The big event in Walla Walla sporting circles this week will be the bowling contest which is scheduled to take place tomorrow night at the Walla Walla Athletic club rooms. The teams that will participate are the Pendleton ten pin rollers and the local club. The Walla Walla bowlers have been putting in constant practice since the game with Spokane and much improvement is noticeable. Captain Kremer said today, 'I believe we will win, as my men are in better shape than they have been this winter. I realize that we are going against the pick of the bowlers of Pendleton, yet I have confidence in the Walla Walla boys.' The Pendleton team is said to be the best five in Eastern Oregon and is coming with great confidence. Secretary Verdinius of the club is arranging more seats in the rooms to accommodate the spectators.

“I realize that we are going against the pick of the bowlers of Pendleton, yet I have confidence in the Walla Walla boys.”
