Speedy Police Patrol Nabs Burglar

Tacoma police use a new automobile patrol wagon to apprehend a suspected burglar just blocks from the crime scene.

The automobile police patrol aided in the capture of a burglar within five minutes after the man jumped from a window of the house he was ransacking. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli P. Norton, 1317 North Eighth street, saw a man jump from a window and flee. He called the police, and the patrol, carrying two jailers, arrived at North Fifth and X streets to find a man matching the boy's description running. The suspect, identified as Charles Lawrence, was apprehended and is believed to be an ex-convict.

“The automobile police patrol gave another excellent exhibition of its worth yesterday afternoon by aiding in the capture of a burglar within five minutes.”
