City Contractor Facing Charges for Animal Abuse

A local street grading contractor is arrested after a humane officer finds his horses in poor condition.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

N. L. Goodwin, a contractor, who is employed in grading city streets, was arrested last evening by Officer Ewing, on warrants sworn to by Humane Officer William S. Van Voris, charging him with working sick and crippled horses. Five warrants were sworn out, charging Goodwin with inhumanely treating five of his animals. The horses are said to be in very bad condition.
