The Great Red Cross Turkey Raffle

Community fundraising takes flight as local volunteers successfully raffle turkeys to support wartime relief efforts.

Number 42, held by Mrs. G. Garber, won one of the Red Cross turkeys and number 71, held by A. R. Gardner won the other at the drawing Saturday evening. The turkeys were raised by Mrs. T. H. Mitchell, who donated one of the birds and gave considerable of her time to the sale of tickets. Much of the credit for the success of the sale is due Mrs. J. W. Vickers, who sold 44 tickets. The sale netted the local Red Cross nearly $75.
