The Death of a Pioneer Citizen in Anacortes

Mary McTaggart, daughter of the founder of Lynden, passes away at her home in Anacortes at age 25.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Mary McTaggart, wife of Edward McTaggart, died at her home in this city yesterday morning of heart trouble. Born at Olympia in 1869, she passed her life in Western Washington. Her father and mother, Hon. and Mrs. H. A. Judson, now reside at Lynden, Whatcom county, which town Mr. Judson founded. In 1888, she married Mr. Edward McTaggart, and since then has lived mostly in Skagit county. During the summer of 1893, Mr. McTaggart built a handsome residence in Anacortes and the family came here to reside. Her sister, Mrs. Annie L. Ekbey, was the daughter-in-law of the second collector of customs of the Puget Sound district, Col. Ekbey, who was killed at Ekbey's Landing, Whidbey Island.

“Mary McTaggart was the youngest of a family of four children. Her father and mother, Hon. and Mrs. H. A. Judson, now reside at Lynden, Whatcom county, which town Mr. Judson founded.”
