Three Aberdeen Mills Prepare to Reopen, and the Town Breathes Again

A Portland firm takes over the Aberdeen Cedar Manufacturing Company's shingle mill, two other mills plan restarts, and a new boiler works raises hopes of a business revival.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

Mr. Spencer, representing Mitchell, Lewis & Shaver Co., of Portland, Or., who have about acquired title to the Aberdeen Cedar Manufacturing Company's shingle mill, was in the city last week, and stated that they would begin operating the mill by April 1st.

Bert Morse is arranging as fast as possible to start up his shingle mill.

J. W. Robinson is in the city in the interest of his suit over the old West mill, and when that is settled he expects to start it running, giving employment to about fifty men.

With these three mills again running, and Wm. Miner's new boiler works in full operation, together with the steadier running of the mills already in operation, a considerable revival of business in Aberdeen may be looked for in the near future.

“With these three mills again running, and Wm. Miner's new boiler works in full operation ... a considerable revival of business in Aberdeen may be looked for in the near future.”

When a handful of mills restarted, an entire town's mood could turn on it. Aberdeen's economy still rises and falls with a few large employers, and the phrase 'a considerable revival of business' has a familiar ring in a timber-and-port town.
