The trustees of the Denny hotel held meeting last night and, after hearing the report of the canvassing committee, decided to advertise for bids for the excavation of the proposed building. The comparative ease with which the greater part of the fund had been raised was highly encouraging to the trustees, and assured them that they were being endorsed by the people of Seattle in their efforts to provide a hotel building that will be a credit alike to the projectors and to the community. The bids for the excavation are to be handed in next Saturday. The contract will be let immediately, and the work will be finished, it is expected, within a month from that time. The hotel will be completed by June 1, at the furthest.

The Denny Hotel was one of Seattle’s first major luxury hotels, symbolizing the city's transition from a rough-and-tumble logging town to a sophisticated commercial hub. Its construction in the early 1900s mirrored modern development booms where private capital and civic pride converge to reshape the skyline, often displacing older neighborhoods in the process.
