Brutal Assault and Robbery in Tacoma: Mrs. Peckman Beaten by Unknown Thug

A 57-year-old woman is brutally attacked and robbed in Tacoma, leaving her severely injured and the assailant at large.

Tacoma — Mrs. Eliza Peckman, 57 years old, wife of the manager of the Wynkoop-Vaughn Drug Co., was brutally assaulted and robbed of her handbag, which contained a watch and a few dollars in money, by an unknown assailant Saturday night. Only for the timely arrival of men of the neighborhood the thug might have killed the helpless woman. Before leaving Mrs. Peckman her assailant broke the bridge of her nose, blackened and closed both of her eyes, and choked her almost into insensibility.

“Only for the timely arrival of men of the neighborhood the thug might have killed the helpless woman.”
