New Grandstand for the Tacoma Tigers

Tacoma’s baseball faithful prepare for the upcoming season with a newly configured, 4,000-seat amphitheater.

The story, cleaned up

A cleaned-up reading of the newspaper page: spelling and layout repaired, one story lifted off a crowded page. It follows the original closely but it is not a transcription. The original page is below; read it if a detail matters.

When the Tacoma Tigers return home on April 28, the new grandstand and bleachers at the local grounds will be ready for the season. The improvements form a modern amphitheater with a seating capacity of 4,000. Due to a adjustment to the fence on Twelfth street, the diamond has been repositioned to maximize the space. Tacoma residents have historically shown great interest in the national game, and with five strong pitchers on the roster, the Tigers are expected to compete for the Pacific Coast League pennant against teams from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, and Portland.

“Tacoma people have always manifested great interest in the national game.”
