Cusick’s New Water Works

A local entrepreneur brings modern infrastructure to a growing valley town.

J. W. Cusick has purchased the engine, tank and pumps of the Ione Water Co., and will install a water system in Cusick. A part of the equipment and a quantity of pipe has already arrived, and the tank will be put up and pipe laid just as soon as the frost is out of the ground. Joe is enterprising and deserving of credit for his public spirit.

Infrastructure development was the lifeblood of early 20th-century Washington towns, often driven by private investment before municipal systems became standard. Today, Cusick remains a small community where the legacy of these early utility efforts still shapes the town's footprint.
